HOERBIGER ::

India, one of the fastest growing industrial powers in the world is also the home to cultural diversity. It is well known the world over for its hot curries as also for its love for cricket. However this is not a story of the Great country, this is a story about a dream, a story about the operations of a unique manufacturing concept.

 

The dream was the establishment of an Export Oriented Unit (EOU) in India which would cater to the expanding global Hoerbiger-KT network, which would operate on a COST PLUS concept, yet dish out world-class products as and when needed by the customer.

 

Turning the dream into reality was a herculean task, more so with the extremely stringent local regulations governing an EOU.

 

The dream finally started to take shape from February 2003, when Hoerbiger Manufacturing Exports Pvt Ltd (HIME) was born in the picturesque village of Kondhapuri about 45 Kms from the city of Pune, next to the existing local Hoerbiger company. ( HIME is now known as HIPL – EOU Division)

 

Forming a company is one task, making it grow is quite another. It requires the same amount of efforts needed by the mother to nurture a child. A task ably undertaken by a small team of young and enthusiastic engineers under the leadership of Mr. Sanjai Kulkarni, with support from the Regional structure.

 

HIPL - EOU DIVISION, first started out with the Classical Valves Manufacturing set-up. It comprised of building a new shed, procuring new machine-tools, equipments and materials. The selection of the workforce was the next task. Each person was selected with care and trained under watchful eyes to ensure that Hoerbiger standards reflected in each and every activity that was performed on the Shop floor as well as the offices, be it production, purchase or packing. Thanks to the legacy of HIPL.

 

The next big challenge was the development of the components for the Rotary Compressor Application. The activity was started in May-2003. Over the years HIPL - EOU DIVISION has successfully developed a wide range of products including, Minimum Pressure Valves, Suction controllers, Servo Cylinders, Venting valves, etc. HIPL - EOU DIVISION has mastered the technology to make gravity die castings, pressure die castings, aluminum forgings, brass forgings and mechanical components to have the right quality and cost.

 

Next, the need was felt to introduce a hub for the manufacturing of reed plates, which found their use in compressors for air brake compressors and refrigeration compressors. Once again HIPL - EOU DIVISION rose to the challenge. It now houses an independent operation capable of manufacturing 150,000 reed plates, mainly catering to the Chinese customer through HOESHA. This facility was set-up in the year 2004 March and upgraded continuously.

 

However the Cherry on The Cake was yet to come. It finally did come in June 2007, in the form of a state-of-the art setup for the Rotary Compressor Component Assemblies. This plant  designed with an ergonomic view, while amalgamating product-wise assembly set-up, ensuring smooth material flow. The plant is also equipped with a Standards room to ensure the maintenance of Hoerbiger quality norms.

 

Ever since, HIPL - EOU DIVISION has not looked back. It has galloped ahead with tremendous speed and dynamism, adding to its ever growing product, portfolio catering to the Global market, ever hungry for low-cost-excellent-quality products from the Indian sub-continent.

 

HIPL - EOU DIVISION has until now seen a dream run, but it only grows bigger and better every year. The mindset is to evolve, to tread the path of continuous improvement. With the ISO 9001 certification firmly under its belt, the company has now set its sight higher towards achieving Six Sigma Excellence for its processes. Another dream requiring dedication and hard work, something that once again seems gigantic in nature, but for HIPL - EOU DIVISION the slogan as always is:

 

“ Difficult we do first, the IMPOSSIBLE, next”.

We dream to be a Global Production Company, amalgamating all the concepts of a LEAN ORGANIZATION, something that we know requires fundamental changes.
