Materials Expertise
The operating life of a reciprocating compressor depends essentially on the durability of its wear parts. Hence selecting the best materials and developing innovative materials belong to our core competences.
The materials used to make the non-metallic rings and plates for HOERBIGER compressor valves must meet a number of special requirements, including
- stability under very high or low temperatures
- resistance against corrosive gases
- damping capacity
- extremely high impact resistance
- usability in variable operating conditions.
Rings and plates that meet these requirements increase the life span of the valve and considerably reduce plant maintenance costs. In this respect, HOERBIGER insists on the highest quality and only uses non-metallics produced according to its own specifications. The result is a consistently high quality of valve.
HOERBIGER’s specifications are based on intensive fundamental research and development, together with our many years of experience in tribology and materials. We invest this know-how in joint developments with selected materials manufacturers.
The integration of all sub-processes ensures that a high level of process reliability can be guaranteed over the entire production operation, from blending the materials, to manufacturing the non-metallic plates and rings in our own plants, through to finishing the product.
Rings and packings also play an essential part in determining the operating life of a reciprocating compressor. HOERBIGER rings and packings are made from worldwide approved HY materials. These high-quality, low-wear materials are produced in our own factory and tested using the latest testing facilities for operation under various process conditions.
Our comprehensive expertise in materials and design has made us the World No. 1 not only for compressor valves, but also for sealing systems for reciprocating compressors.
